1. Bats
One of the mot popular types of bats in the area is the Mexican free-tailed bat. They spend mot of their time in dark, dry places. This bat has large feet and ears. It has a dark, reddish tone to its fur. They migrate to South America, Mexico and Central America during the coldest months of the year.
2. Wild Turkeys
Sometimes the wild turkeys in Texas will be referred to as the Rio Grande turkeys. These types of turkeys live in uncrowded areas. They have dark feathers in the colors of brown and gray.
3. Guadalupe Bass
The guadalupe bass is the state fish of Texas. This type of fish is green in color, and relatively small. They are sought after by fisherman from all over the world. In lives in small streams in the Texas area, but does not live in other parts of the world.
4. Texas Map Turtle
The Texas map turtle is the smallest type in the map turtle family. The females in the group can become larger than the males, which is only up to about 7 inches long. Underneath its head are orange or yellow spots, the rest of the body is brown in color.
5. White-Tailed Deer
There are three to four million white-tailed deer in Texas. This makes it one of the most highly deer populated areas in the United States. They eat plants, grass, twigs and fruit. When they are fleeing an enemy, their tails are erect so that the white can be seen. This is how they received their name of the white-tailed deer.
